About CESS

Craigie Engineering Sales & Services Ltd was established in Scotland in 1995 by Mike Craigie following an international career in power engineering and equipment sales. CESS now advises owners, operators, lenders and investors on the valuation, sale and acquisition of power-generation assets.

Our work covers gas turbines, steam turbines, combined-cycle plants, reciprocating engines, generators, transformers and associated balance of plant. Assignments range from desktop appraisals of individual packages to multi-site inspections, portfolio valuations and controlled international sale processes.

Clients deal directly with senior personnel. The scope, assumptions, evidence and limitations of each assignment are agreed at the outset, and commercially sensitive information is managed in accordance with the client’s disclosure requirements.

Ben Craigie became Managing Director in 2014. Since then, CESS has focused on complex appraisal and transaction mandates involving large-capital generation assets.

  • 17.3 GW of appraisal assignments for 44 clients in 28 countries
  • 79% repeat business and over US$2 billion of combined sale and appraisal value

Across its wider history, CESS has worked in international secondary markets for more than three decades. The company received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2004.
